I have toes. I like them.

And I have shoes for them to walk in,

all around and round when the ground is cold.

My toes are blue

and sleepy

from so much hiding in my shoes,

And ask they be forgotten

for the wind and sun and

scrittchy scratchy grass beside the sidewalk

And the smooth muddy track

so inconspicuously calling from behind the building.

But I have shoes for them to walk in

all around and round

when the ground is soft and warm.

And my toes are blue

and sad

from so much hiding in my shoes.

It is both exceedingly extarordinary, and somehow comforting to know that we're mostly made up of the same thing the clouds are. The pre-socratic philosophers tried to reconcille the make-up of the universe, and everything in it, to an essential arche... some said fire, water, wind... Which is all outdated, scientifically, to be sure... but still it's nice to imagine being so closely related to something like a cloud.

The sort of funny thing about Canada is that everything just seems a bit more sane up there... did you know the city of Toronto not only collects recycling from all of it's residents, but compost as well? Amazing.

I've decide I love my canadians a good deal more now... they're pretty cool. Also cool; snowboarding, musical by Queen, Kensington market, Toronto, and a cat named Nala on the flight home.

Tomorrow is New Years eve. Pretty crazy, no?

Happy Christmas from the far of land of Canada... there is snow here. I wish I could somehow package some of it up and bring it back to share with you all, cause they sure wouldn't miss it if I took some, I don't think. Are you all having a lovely holiday with your families? I hope so. I am, more than I thought I would... the canadians seem more and more enjoyable the older I get.

That said, I wish I were coming home sooner. I miss you.

I think sometimes you get what you deserve. Which can be dangerous. And not just for you. Not even especially for you.

*sigh*

peace and love
